Mathematical problems

“Before WWII there were more than 70 synagogues in Chisinau, each serving a different trade,” writes the Lonely Planet Guide.
Tuesday morning we visited Chisinau’s only remaining working synagogue. There were four people inside, three men and a woman.
One of the men appeared to be solving mathematical problems, but perhaps he was bookkeeping.
