Private party

Depression

This afternoon I went to Beppe for lunch.
The restaurant was rather empty, but it’s summer time, we are in the midst of a depression, an empty restaurant can happen.
I took a seat at the bar, next to three people, two women and a man.
After a while the maître d’ came to me and she said: "Excuse me, but we are closed.”

“Oh you have a private party,” I said.

“No, not really. We are out of water.”

“Out of water?”

“Yes. No water. We can offer you wine, or drinks. But no food.”

Wine sounded tempting, but I needed some food.

“Well,” I answered. “Too bad. Another time.”

I got up.

“What's wrong with your water?” I asked out of curiosity.

“We are just out of it,” she said.

Then I decided that it was time to leave the restaurant.

Water with Grapes by AHMED
I am not sure I understand, I always cook with wine personally...
By the way, congrats on the couchsurfing piece I read in Courrier International, almost tempted me...
Nicolas
How nice to hear from you.
You should try couch surfing.
Fear
I wonder, are you still afraid of people? Or has the fear subsided with the years, and the succes? In 'Brief aan M' you wrote: 'I'm interested in people, because I fear them, and I fear you the most.' Are you still able to fear someone as strongly as M? And if not, if your fear indeed has subsided, has your interest in people subsided with it? And do you think a subsiding of fear would have a negative impact on your creativity?
Hordijk
Don’t worry I still fear people. Perhaps not as strongly as when I was 19.
The fear of M was very much connected to desire.
And yes fear doesn’t preclude curiosity.
