Last Saturday, while driving through the Dutch hills/mountains, my daughter (4), nephew (turning 6 today) and niece (8) were having a back seat car disco listening to Abba. No 1 Mamma mia, No 2 Super Trouper. Again, one more infinite time, nog eens, etc. They still like their spaghetti cut though. The noble art of table manners...

On a different note, I think ABBA, like the Beatles (children love the Beatles) appeals to some basic joy of life, joy of rythm, joy of harmony. Children can't yet resist to respond to this.

The deep south of the Netherlands. Vijlen, Epen, Slenaken, Keutenberg, Cauberg, Eijserbos, Gulpenerberg, Kruisberg, Koning van Spanje. The hammocks at boscafé "'t Hijgend hert" were very popular. We also played hide and seek around the pigs, peacocks, sheep and new-born chickens.

Deep South

The Deep South, that sounds good. Makes want to break loose from society and travel together with an older Marrocan man on a raft down the Maas, living by my sounds heart only, eating hammocks and catching pigs on the riverside.

Not at all. In fact, I would love to see you do it. Do you use a knife and fork? Could you post a You-tube clip of you eating a hammock?

I shocked myself recently by singing along all the songs on Abba's Greatest Hits and still knowing all the lyrics. I guess at almost fifty, I'm still in love with Abba songs. At five or at fifty it's nice to love Abba. When I was fifteen I hated loving Abba.
