Fig leaf

Irony

This evening I interviewed the artist Marcel van Eeden at the Dutch embassy in Berlin.
Mr. van Eeden stated that it was impossible to be an artist nowadays without being ironic.
After the interview drinks were being served. Most art events are a fig leaf for serving beer and wine to people of a certain age.
Marcel van Eeden said over a glass of wine: “An art historian from Oxford approached me after the interview. She told me: ‘This was awful, Mr. van Eeden.’”

Aaahh, Antonioni's Blow-up!
'End' is Ok, the end of the film, but 'happy ending' !
Did you mean the final last fantastic image/picture, or the last/final sequence of this masterpiece of a film.
Talking about beauty, what that means etc., [I wonder if AG ever watched this film].
And the eye of the camera/a human being etc etc -- Susan Sontag On Photography!]
'The eye of the beholder' : AG didn't quite get this, I think.
Talking about Dawkins, but but but....
[Going back to Plato and these heavenly concepts of beauty: ....]

'Blow-Up' is all about beauty and words and signs and what they (might) mean to a photographer (!) ------
Ideas = memes (are you listening AG ?) = sounds = words (like 'beauty') = some magnificent construct within our brain =
(you know you've got a brain and you have got brainS !)
-- genes -- memes -- some film -- (the soundtrack of Blow-Up!)
-- your senses -- making sense of anything -- meaning
What does something/a word/an image.... mean?
Well, to have some sensible discussion on these things, please go back to Spinoza and Bertrand Russell and Wittgenstein.
And from there to Dawkins!!
And back to Antonioni's Blow-Up!

Please AG, don't talk about tautologies.
By the way (BTW, do I have to pay now?)

(The mime tennis game.) Well, at least I've enjoyed the movie, and I've half a sense of what it meant. I guess I'm already spoilt with that.
