Age

Morning

This morning my dentist’s assistant said to me: “You have beautiful teeth, for a man of your age.”

The same
My dentist told me the same this year. I'm 19 years old.
My dentist haven't told me anything like that! :( Either you have a very kind dentist, or my teeth are not that good...

If your dentist told you what Mr Grunberg's dentist told Mr Grunberg, you would get very upset.
It could be worse, for example if he changes to "Don't worry. That's perfectly normal at your age."
I went to the dentist yesterday. It wasn't really necessary, but I like to have my teeth in a mint condition. He decided to remove a nerve, so started to drill. "If you feel any pain," he said, "raise your left hand." A moment later I raised my left arm, but nothing happened and I had to bear another 15 minutes of excrutiating pain.

This dentest I went to isn't my regular dentist. This one works for free. I wouldn't go to this man if it were for me, but my mother is on a holiday and I didn't feel like paying a man 140 euros for some dental work.

I like to believe I have beautiful teeth, though. The truth is different. I used to have beautiful teeth, but braces ended that era.

38. Do you feel the midlife crisis yet?
Mieke
Yet?
Arnon
Already? ;)

You've visited a dentist for free? Someone you knew? Or was it Francois Lepeltier?

In the seventies my dentist gave me fluor treatment, my teeth are so white, still!, that I dont flush them too often, so I didnt feel like visiting any dentist after my old dentist disappeared. As a fluorkid all I needed was for special occasions a little extreme whitener brush treatment to make the whites all shiny again. But to come back on a issue mentioned on this blog before, for the owner the real beauty of teeth lies on the inside you can tell by the pain you feel when something is wrong. My pearly white teeth are quite rotten on the inside. The project that my new dentist have started looks like the UCP: the outside is still standing, it will take years to rebuild it, and sometimes everything stops because there is something found that is strange or of archeological interest.
So maybe your teeth are a little yellow Arnon but very healthy on the inside. Anyhow, how did your dentist come to his conclusion, is he an outsider or an insider? And / or can you tell us in details about the condition of your teeth? And ok, how did you keep them that beautiful?
Arnon
Let's hope that doctors you visit next will say:
'For a man of your age you have beautiful eyes, ears, limbs, lobes,
genitals, intestines,...'
Vera
Let's hope Arnon won't have to visit so many doctors. :)

As long as it is not an geriatrist.

I hate to tell you this but my teeth are not yellow at all.
It's the generation of the seventies, they all have very healthy teeth because of the fluor treatment. Same story with my teeth, dentists enjoy the generation of the early seventies!

I know it sounds very much Gstaad 95-98-like, but it's the truth. A friend of my mother's once recommended him and I went. At that time he said something and I said yes. That's where it went wrong.

Every time I do try to pay (I always have a note of 50) but then he says "no, you don't have to pay. It's all here" and then he points at the top of a green paper.

Very weird. I'm still experiencing toothache whereas I didn't have this before I visited my dentist.

(Where) can I visit this dentist? I don't feel like spending 220 euro's again this year, while every morning I wake up with a hurting molar.

Contact Johannes to get my information and I'll hook you up.

Certainly I have experiece of beautiful appearances masking frightening, costly infections. I feel for your suffering dear. Tooth pain is the very worst save labor I'm told (and I am suspicious of maternal testimony). Eventually we must wither and die and I rather fear than dream an alternative believing in lonely nosferatu and unconvinced of the clubby modern kind. Eliot suggested having them out. Nathaniel West too. Moderns worry more for the possession of teeth than once they did. Clark Gable had none. But my heart Scarlett and I would do Clark forever in heaven if there is one. My Superman.
My dentist is originally from Sweden. He is very tall and speaks English with a most delightful accent.
Dens
I will. It's in Flanders right?
Jan A.
That's right.
