A tad salty

Göschenen

Although I did work as a steward in a dining car in the summer of 2008 I still believe that it is hard to find something more romantic than having lunch or dinner in a dining car.
This afternoon while traveling by train from Lugano to Zurich Airport I had lunch in the dining car.
The risotto was a tad salty but more than acceptable.
After Göschenen it started raining.

Salty from tears that you were alone in the diner? Without your great love, the foal.....
Maybe a good idea for your next book presentation. Charter a train in Amsterdam and present your book in Brussels.
Book presentation
Present your book in the dining car. :)

My foal was there.

'After Göschenen it started raining.'
Very nice.
Good. I think any foal or filly should be served romance at an early stage. It may be the only time you get to take him for 'a ride'.
I sat on my favourite seat on the ICE train toward Kiel this morning (by the window, on the right side of the train so I'd be able to watch the Rhine flow past me). The conductor advertised stewed chicken for 14,90€. I preferred a toastie, water, chocolate and "Noah and the Whale".
When I was travelling this summer, I drank some tea in a dining car just to drink some tea in a dining car. I should've taken a more expensive dining car, because they served tea out of a plastic cup with a plastic stirringstick. I had to drink it while being shaken up, so I went back to my seat and drank it there.

What is "Noah and the Whale" exactly?
Arnon
They are an Indie folk band from London. My favourite song at the moment: "The First Days of Spring" which is also the title of their current album.
Juliane
I see.
Wasn't there a movie titled "The squid and the whale"?
Did Noah have a special relationship with his whale?
Arnon
Aunt Wiki says: "Their name is a marriage of the title of one of the band's favourite films, The Squid and the Whale, and the director of said film's name (Noah Baumbach)". So you were quite right in your assumptions, Mr Grunberg.

I haven't seen the film. Have you?
Juliane
I’ve seen that movie and if my recollection is right, I wrote a column about this movie for Words Without Borders, but I cannot find it.
squid & whale
You are right it was on Words Without Borders:
"From all sides I heard that I should see The Squid and the Whale, a movie by Noah Baumbach.
Finally I gave in. (,,,)

Thanks!

Did you go to the Museum of National History after seeing the movie?
Oscar
No, but I will soon see two exhibitions at the MoMa.
bert
Did your usage of the word "was" mean I won't find Mr Grunberg's column there any longer? Because my search yielded no results.
Juliane
Googling and searching the internet - including Words Without Borders - didn't give me any results either.
(I would have provided the link in that case.)
So I searched my own 'Grunberg' files for 'squid'.
Which provided me with what I was looking for.
Do you need the text as well?
bert
Oh, it's not that urgent.
Juliane
It's not that urgent?
What is urgent in your life?
Arnon
Rest assured that I will politely ask for someone to provide me with your column should the time come that I will watch the movie in question. Then obtaining this little journalistic/literary masterpiece will be the most urgent thing in my whole life.

I can't say that there are things in my live I could label with an overall urgency at the moment. Importance, yes, but not urgency. Except for the fulfilment of a small selection of physical and emotional needs from time to time.

What's urgent in your life, Mr Grunberg?
Juliane
Besides finishing my new novel it's only your happiness that counts.
Arnon
Well, I'll be waiting by my letterbox then, for happiness to arrive.
Juliane
Dear Juliane, I want you to be happy as well.
Especially these days...
As your letterbox is ( and will remain, I guess) a mystery to me, I propose to post aforementioned text by Mr Arnon Grunberg right here.
However, as this text is his, we [ I ] will need his express consent to do so....
Awaiting further instructions, if any,
Your most humble servant,
