Hotel d'Orsay

Statman

Tonight I went to Brooklyn to listen to Andy Statman.
There were about forty people in the “performance space” of Barbès, a decent bar in Brooklyn.
The performance space was slightly bigger than my living room. Above the stage hung a neon sign that read “Hotel d’Orsay”.
Mr. Statman is a great mandolin player, but in all honesty 45 minutes of mandolin music a night is enough for me.

Always nice to see someone with a bluegrass upbringing become a klezmer virtuoso and vice versa. The 45-minute limit for non stop listening to mandoline music is a global phenomenon, and the reason why there is no 100% mandolinemusic radiostation.
Heer Grunberg toch algelijk!

I have such an old mandoline for sale. Nice to look at, even if you don't like to hear it. Someone interested?

Sorry that i cant except your offer, i already got one from somebody who stole it out of an italian restaurant. How?
I dont know. You can get a mandarin out of a mandoline as you can get a limon out of a cello, but you cant get a cello out of a limon. And I feel like a limon that tried that and got squeezed.. yes, the limoncellohangover.

Too bad, the profit I intend to donate for Haïti.

I think the benefits will be much bigger when you and the mandoline go out to the nearest station, play Haitian Fight Song by Mingus on mandoline and beg for money. You could even leave the mandoline home cause out of what you tell me it really ties your room together.

They ignore you, but don't be sad, I'm there for you
Arnon: mandoline + monkey
My dad plays mandoline too, in the oldest italian plectrum orchestra. :)
Anyway, I'll send you an e-mail now about your monkey.
