Pang

Batman

This morning in the city of Batman I said good-bye to my Turkish interpreter.
It was definitely a relief, but at the same time I felt a pang of sadness.
We believe we long for friendship and love but we underestimate our longing for hatred and enemies.

eva en arnon - goede reis door irak toegewenst! had ik maar meegekund dan had ik mijn vader een toeval bezorgd met een kaartje uit irak...
Who-is-who
I presume the two ladies in the picture are Eva and your interpreter; it makes me wonder who is who in the picture. (Sometimes it's best not to jump to conclusions about putting names to faces and consider myself well practised at it, but even getting it wrong by exception can be very embarrassing I have learned.) Continuing the trivia theme, are you willing to divulge what book it is you're carrying in the picture Arnon?

PS Did you and the mysterious dark haired lady agree to both wear military inspired jackets on the day the picture was taken?
Philip
The lady next to Arnon is Eva. Maybe she is wearing the uniform Arnon thought fit for the journey. After all they are heading for a warzone.
‘a relief, but at the same time a pang of sadness’, yes, that is exactly how I feel each time I leave my girl friend.
Arnon
Misfortune , in my experience, is often brought by the ones you don't trust or can't stand. Good she's gone.
You're standing at the memorial of Ata Turk, Am I right?
It must be the most beautiful mausoleum I've ever seen.

Tell your interpreter (next time) "seni seviyorum". She'll love that. He might not so much.
An Authors Chair
In preperation for your visit to GWA in Dubai. I just wanted to ask you a question. If you were a chair what would you look like?? We are creating an authors chair and I wanted some visual ideas from you the author. Many Thanks

Moon
A safe chair.
It will have four legs but what objects would you choose to have on your chair?
If you were a chair with a voice what would you say?
Moon
I expect a chair to be silent.
Arnon
That comment made me laugh out loud.
