Booming

Border

This morning we passed the Iraqi border.
Arbil appears to be a booming city and almost as safe as downtown Manhattan -- a huge contrast with Cizre at the Turkish side of the border. (See: picture)
The comfortable Erbil National Hotel offers Chinese ladies for massage from nine a.m. to nine p.m., according to reliable sources in my team.
I remember a certain Chinese restaurant in the Green Zone in Baghdad. See: “Fear and Loafing in the Green Zone”.

'I take risks when there's no risk involved.' vs. ''I avoid risk whenever I can'.

The difference between the two is not a nuance to me, more a reluctance to admit to something. Avoiding risk can be a sign of having good judgement. Risk taking may be somewhat overrated.
