Longing

Al-Hamra

Back in Baghdad – I miss the Al-Hamra Hotel, where I stayed last year.
On the picture below I’m dancing with a Kurdish family, a few miles north of Arbil.

Hmm lovely! I like the picture below and imagine it must have been an enjoyable moment.
Arnon
What a trip, what a trip! There are a lot of questions but after this post the question is: did you get the woman in the green dress? I can hear the sparks going vice versa over my screen. Maybe its an indecent question because i read in yesterday's post that there are dutch relatives that read this blog (hello!). Maybe they wanted you to pick out the - for them - more sympathetic woman in purple or the smart beauty in yellow or not to pick up anybody at all, im only guessing. Sorry folks but our protagonist needs some love/romance/adventures/flirtations on this trip and we, his audience, have to see and at least know about it or attend Arnon to it like on this photograph.
The hotel … http://tinyurl.com/yzyjxgk. But a room with a kitchenette is nice too.

The girls wear beautiful clothes. (such group dancing and/or singing does not exist any more in our countries, or it has to be the Polonaise…)

i don´t think so, it looks like these folk are really devoted to traditions, like the one that one should dance without the shoes, and on the picture Arnon is dancing with his shoes on and it looks like the woman in green has noticed it. Dunno what happend later...

Arnon is a little shy when it comes to declaring his love. Don't push him too much.

Flamenco, bellydancing etc. is very popular in our countries nowadays.
I used to dress myself in a silk sari when I wanted to spoil my lover.
Mieke
didn´t mean to...
somehow this song matches the pictures

According to the photograph the clothing rule for this dance event is for women to wear no shoes and a dress, and that all the dresses have different colors. For men the rules are to wear trousers, shoes, a shirt without a t-shirt and you distinguish yourself from the other men by the hair-growth on your chin. These dances will therefore always remain small and cozy (also because of the holding hands part).
@Mieke
Very sweet. I love theatrical erotica.
What a beautiful culture.
Thinking about Iraq or Bagdad I only could think of bombs, fire and violence. I understand this is a limited viewpoint. Probably this is the motivation for journalists, willing to report from these extreme (still to my taste) areas? I have to say: I never would dare.
I wish you a safe journey to where-ever you plan to travel to now.
I miss the good old days. At least there were fights. Rutger, Batta, Neria, Ilanit, Eric, Victor Cre-something, Margot, Hanny etc. Are you out there? We should organize a dinner and invite Arnon and then start throwing food at eachother and fight over the bill or something. Anything.
Aliefka
For a start I miss your little arguments with Arnon. Could you please try to ridicule or insult him.
Aliefka
Maybe we can stir up things a little by discussing the fact why we think Arnon is a sexist.
Ouch Mieke, don't remind me. My opinions about many things have changed. One could even argue I am the sexist here. I don't really feel like going down that road myself, but I do wonder why there are hardly any quarrels up here these days. Do the newer commentators have a different psychological constitution than the early birds?
Dear Aliefka,
did you call me?

yours,

Eric
Eric Wander!! Swoon...
You look like me in Burka.
Dear Aliefka,

what a beautiful word: 'Swoon'

about organizing a diner with fights and food-throwing.

Do you have a location and date in mind?

yours,

Eric
I was thinking l'Hollandais, Amsterdam. How about April 24th? Any old-schoolers interested email me - mail@aliefka.com. Whether or not Arnon shows up is, of course, not something that is within my scope of control.
sorry - i shouldn't have had wine for lunch. not within the scope of my control.
Aliefka
April the 24 th, my birthday, I would love to, but I have already booked a weekend with my mother.
Aliefka,

I'm game, if you see to it we can smash some plates too.
Rescheduling to have Mieke join us would be a good idea.

grtz, jeanette
Well, the thing is - I'm not entirely sure what dates Arnon's on this side of the world. I took a guess based on his calender.
All right!
You still have my mail address I assume...

(Cauliflowers and borderliners on the menu?)
Don't wait for me girls. Have a drink on me ( Aliefka send the bill to me) and enjoy.
Dear Aliefka,

I'm afraid april won't work for me.
The next time I'm close to Holland would be june.

yours,

Eric
