Clandestine

2005

Tonight I returned to Le Colonial.
The last time I had dinner in Le Colonial was with my fiancée Elayne K., who passed away in 2005.
Over spring rolls a friend and I discussed the consequences of a clandestine life.
We both believe that a clandestine life might be the best life.

Please define "a clandestine life" for us. Who is the enemy? Everybody else? Your imagined other life? Public opinion? Please make sense! Or is common sense the evildoer?

As to enemies, there is a saying: treat your friends as if they will become your enemies.

thnx, but dictionaries don't help here. Again: why this secrecy? I'm not sure there is a place to hide, really. We live in a collective dream/nightmare, so even when you're on your own, the folly is there.

XX it is common knowledge Arnon wanted to be an actor when growing up; there is some astonishing footage of him with dutch comedian Paul de Leeuw, talking about this subject.
Maybe there is a common link between all good writers in the Netherlands; they failed in what they so badly wanted to become.
Grunberg an actor, Mulisch a scientist (4 example).
