Religion
Backache
Today I spoke about my work at an international school in Dubai.
One of the pupils in the auditorium asked: “You are not a fan of religion are you?”
“Well,” I answered, “I’m not religious myself, but I would recommend reading the bible, even if you don’t believe in God.”
“And you don’t like bananas?” the same pupil asked.
“How do you know?” I asked.
“You wrote something about bananas on your site.”
“It’s true, I don’t like bananas.”
“Bananas are good for you when you have a backache.”
“I will start eating bananas as soon as I have a backache,” I promised the pupil.

Bananas
Tender, funny scene.
If the student is obsessed about bananas, perhaps you should teach him about 'a perfect day for bananafish'; altough... thats about someone going bananas.
Don't you like bananas because of metaphors it stands for, or is it a flavourwise thing?
Why ?
Why would you recommend reading the Bible, even if you don’t believe in God ?
Me too, I recommend reading the Bible, that wonderful collection of stories. Because we, humans are nothing more and nothing less than stories.
Without bananas my life would be just porridge. What an awful thought.
I don't like bananas either!
There is however one occasion on which I love bananas. That's when they're stamped and added with some sugar.
without sugar

Do you need to be a killer to enjoy thrillers?

Sugar and lemon!

To avoid any misunderstanding I suppose we are both speaking of the Torah. If so why should you bother to read instructions for a thing you buy or inheritate but have no intention to use from "someone" you pretend not to be the manufacturer ?

If you didnt you could try the bakabana with lots of limoncello and cream (in a combination 1:2:20)
And have you already tried the Fat Elvis' favorite sandwich the Fool's Gold? (a french bread with bacon, strawberryjam, peanutbutter and for you 3 slices of banana) Elvis ate four of these a day.
Because a banana is like a bible, after the indigestable peel - on which people tend to slip - there is the soft fruitfull inside with which everybody manipulates.
Arnon,
The author of the Zohar once said that if somebody is seeking litterature then there is much better litterature from non-jewish writers, nonetheless we will not take the Odyssey and make it a Torah (litteraly instruction for life), furthermore the written Torah cannot be understood without our oral tradition and history has shown that using the Bible literally or figuratively has only brought more bigotry and hatred in the world. Non-jews don't need the Bible to get an happy ever-after and not even a religion, so why bother them?
Banana split
No more banana/byblos split thanks to Careca's remix. Careca, are you a DJ?

I’m speaking about the bible, The Old and The New Testament.

The author of the Zohar must have been mistaken. Don’t get mad at him.

Did you really read the Torah once? I do complete it every year and it's fascinating but not on a litterary level, in that respect you're a lot better. I don't deny though that some stories could inspire a writer, but then the product would be is own representation of this story (his mirror) without relation with it's real signification.
