Dubai and Vevey

Swanky

Dining experiences in Madrid:

The Dutch embassy in Madrid invited us – a couple of Dutch authors, translators and other people connected to literature in one way or the other – for a dinner at restaurant Teatriz.
The restaurant is definitely swanky; the wine was good enough and the food was more than reasonable.
I didn’t pick up the check, but according to the menu the prices are reasonable.
Compared to restaurants in New York, Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, Dubai and Vevey restaurants in Madrid are cheap.

I do not know if you are aware that it is very swanky today to talk about food, especially on TV (there are dozens of programs about cooking and restaurants).

I don’t talk about food – I talk about restaurants.
But I leave the possibility open that I’m swanky myself.

I love your stories about restaurants, but it reminded me of last night watching tv, my question is: Why is it that when people start compressing their stories there is still so much food and beverage involved? In tv series there is not a scene without coffee, soda or beer every three minutes (without the commercials). Consumers copying this behaviour end up with serious problems.

I didnt see your comment when i commented but for me you have a point. And of all the programs i didnt even see foodprograms yesterday. If there is only thought for food there will be no food for thought? And a thought of food is always good, it benefits to the program and the G or BNP: A sort of UN Food Program for the first world.

I don't want to point to the obvious, but why the fascination with prices?
I'd love to eat in Madrid. Swanky or not. I am always hungry.

I know, Arnon does not watch TV, so hence the coincidence and my comment.
Indeed, nowadays TV is full of programs about restaurants, food and cooking.
(Swanky, I just love the word.) Let us all be frankly swanky ! Yea!
