Anchovies
Guitar
Dining experiences in Amsterdam:
Last night after a discussion on nihilism and drinks at a party thrown by a Dutch newspaper two friends and I decided that we had to eat something before we could go to bed.
We ended up in a small Spanish restaurant near the Leidseplein.
The restaurant was almost empty.
Three Dutch women were sitting at a table – a heavy black man was playing the guitar.
Another black man who turned out to belong to the restaurant started dancing with two of the women. His dancing reminded me of “dirty dancing” but I have to say that in my eyes most dancing is dirty.
The tapas, shrimps, potatoes, anchovies, squid, were mediocre. The wine was mediocre. The ambiance was fascinating. Dinner for three including tip but without dessert: 50 euros.

Should I feel guilty?
Arnon
Someone should.
Openbaar Vervoer?
Mieke,
How about public transport?
mieke & arnon
how was it?
Taste
Mr. Grunberg,
Of course my taste is not at all as sophisticated as yours, but there is a nice Argentine restaurant at the Leidseplein. And how about De Balie?

Public transportation wasn't an option. A possibility however is that Arnon engages me next time untill 4 in the morning, that's about the time when the first train rides.

Next time you take me along with you and we'll book a nice hotelroom to spend the night. If necessary, I am willing to sleep on the floor.

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you, sounds great.

Amsterdam was vibrant, a hot summerday, streetdancers on the corners, an old books market in front of Spui 25. People were only allowed in at19.30 .
Arnon moderated, Goudsblom talked. He gave mainly an exposé about the concept truth from the ancient greeks, throughout Christianty to Nietzsche. In Nihilism, all truth is relative and thus Nietzsche reacted against the revelation discours of christians.
It was a very good debat if you wanted to know more of how and where to situate Nihilism.
Though I consider Nihilism to be part of the sign of times these days.
I enjoyed the evening very much, except for my parking ticket bill.
And Arnon was his charming self , as always.
@Mieke
Sounds good.
I agree that truth is sadly (once again) relative nowadays.

What kind of truth, Francette, would you prefer?
Mieke
Your parking bill is actually the sign of the times.
