Closing
Melancholy
One of my favorite restaurants in New York is closing:
"Beppe, the Italian restaurant at 45 East 22nd Street, is closing at the end of this month, a manager confirmed. The owners plan to announce the closure via an e-mail to their customers this evening. Stratis Morfogen, the owner of Philippe, has taken the lease and plans to transform the space into another Italian restaurant, this one called Ciano after the Tuscan village. A source close to the deal tells Grub Street that Morfogen has already applied for a liquor license and plans to open the space in mid-September. Morfogen would not comment."

When I was still a student, I worked in a small Italian restaurant in Leuven.
You should try my 'Penne al Pesto ' once or my 'Osso Bucco al Milanese'.
Melancholy
I know, every time a favorite restaurant or bar was closing, I felt a bit homeless.
Plastic flowers
Was it the place with plastic flowers, washed once a year you spoke of in a previous posting on this blog?
Looking at the photo it seems like the Romans conquered America first.
mm, wouldn't it be nice if all the conquering was done by restaurants. let's give mcdonalds a purple heart (just for one evening)
@Arnon, has your mother left IC? I hope she's getting better?
