Borscht

Tonight I had dinner with a friend at Vaselka.
He told me that he wanted to become a hypnotist.
I got tired after my borscht – perhaps he had already hypnotized me.

When you get tired you might be hypnotized?
You get 'hypnotized' [sleepy] of course by the blood flowing from your brain to your stomach, getting to digest whatever went into it.
On the other hand, you might be called a hypnotizer yourself already by everything you write & publish ...
I witnessed a man in the subway last night, reading VN, and smiling intensely at what he was reading. No doubt he was reading your comments as a 'mensendokter'. And isn't any 'mensendokter' also a kind of hypnotizer at his or her best moments?

My mother always gets tired after eating. When this happens, she says "Ik krijg een inzinking". Over the years I've started to loathe (or maybe hate) the word "Inzinking".
