Two weeks
Melancholy
An acquaintance told me that two weeks of coughing is a lot for a non-smoker.
But what’s two weeks of melancholy for a non-smoker?

@Arnon
This isn't your Andy Kaufman cough, is it?

Tomorrow I’m going to see a doctor then I’ll tell you more. I think the coughing means that my body is busy organizing a velvet revolution against my mind. I won’t give in to my body, if this body of mine is not listening to me it can go to hell.
two weeks of melancholy for a nonsmoker
‘Caterpillar Neverenough’ built a small house, a cocoon, for himself after he had eaten as much as he could. He stayed inthere for two whole weeks.
As far as I know, he wasn’t a smoker.
He did not know what coming out would be like.
He just didn’t know if he would ever overcome this. The past was the only thing he could long for.
He did not know the concept of being a butterfly.
Revolution, Power to the people! Ha, ha, ha.
At least provide in the needs of the lower echelons, like a descent commander should do, although success is never guaranteed.
Bronchitis
It was about time they you went to the doctor !. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be (chronical) bronchitis. Your symptoms sound like that.
Please let us know the outcome. We are worried about you.
Is melancholy a symptom of bronchitis?
Or is melancholy a symptom of being a non-smoker?
Is it the memory of a good cigar that causes the melancholy?
My melancholy was already there before I became a smoker.
May be it was the reason why I started smoking (?)
Andy Kaufman
What? A cough?
What a movie!
Arnon, perhaps this is a good occasion to start smoking?
What is the legacy of Andy Kaufman?
Throat cancer would be an obvious suggestion. Will give u more time for writing.
Sounds to me like you're suffering from post-euphoria-melancholy (it's been two weeks since the Libris right?). The remedy: write.
Andy Kaufman
Andy Kaufman was a performance artist. Milos Forman made a movie (Ypu should see) about him, Man on the moon with Jim Carrey.
Arnon, what did the doctor say?
Coughing
It might just be an allergic reaction. Of course, diagnostics over the internet is as good as searching illnesses under the C for Cough.
Melancholy sure is a symptom.

I don’t think I suffer from post-euphoria melancholy. If anything it is pre-euphoria melancholy. Actually I do think that I got sick at the Libris Award dinner. Maybe I should sue them for giving me two weeks of coughing.
@Arnon, at the Libris dinner - did that female writer-competitor sneeze in your soup? Or perhaps it was your driver.... Then again: airplanes are flying germ-capsules and we all know the virus-alert around kids. Of all the remedies that have been suggested, here's another one from me: no alcohol (alcohol aggravates the itch), more rest and try not to think of The Cough. That's the greatest challenge for the self-fulfilling mind. Maybe writing will take your mind off coughing.
