Behind a church

Relief

The reading in Tübingen took place behind a church – unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of my audience. So I decided to opt for a picture of the benches.
The last reading of this tour will be awarded with an 8 - also because two employees of my German publisher were willing to carry my suitcase. As you can see on the picture below. The fact that the organizers of this last reading forgot to pay me, consciously or unconsciously, is not that important.
There is a sense of relief that the tour is over, but it’s a small relief. Every reading tour confronts you with this question: who needs friends when you have customers?

As I'm working in a hotel for now, I can definitly agree what that last statement. You don't need friends when you got people that pay for what you do. Today some people ven cried while leaving the hotel. I find that strange, since they pay me to be friendly to them. I wonder if they realise this.

Someone said "if you can fake sincerity, you can fake almost anything". There's one thing I can't fake: being good at football.

Who needs friends when you have machiavelli?
As Peter Sloterdijk says, we all live in our own bubble.
I think there is also a very thin line between sincerity and fake. No need to imitate the famous Christian Beck.
@your question
I think that a costumer can stand in for a friend partly or for a period of time.
Ik wanted to ask: when does a costumer become friend and when does the friend turn into a costumer?
Because in your case, Arnon, lots of costumers would like to become friends without even knowing you and lots of friends turned into costumers i guess.
Friede
A lot of customers believe they are/can become Arnon's
friends because they have read his books.
And:
Who needs friends when the old baker's wife is sincerely grateful
every time you buy a bread?
I was thinking that maybe Id get a maid
Find a place nearby for her to stay.
Just someone to keep my house clean,
Fix my meals and go away.

A maid. a man needs a maid
(Neil Young)
Today I listened to the Massey Hall performance. I want to dedicate this song to Arnon (next to myself and others) as a smaller miracle to come.
