Sirens
Fire?
Something just happened here. Smoke is coming out of a building not far from Grand Central.
I stopped working because of the sirens.
18:43 CNN reports:
"A transformer exploded Wednesday afternoon near Manhattan's Grand Central train station, possibly a result of steam underground, New York Police Department told CNN.
Video from the scene shows what appears to be steam billowing from underground and a small school bus with its windows and a door blown out.
The New York Fire Department said it received a call reporting an explosion at 5:56 p.m. More than 170 firefighters have been dispatched to the site at Lexington Avenue near 41st Street.
No injuries were reported, according to New York Office of Emergency Management."
No terrorism. So I had according to my schedule iced tea with Selina Bendock, the friend of my fiancée Elayne who passed away in 2005.

Explosion on 41st and Lexington
.
It happened on the East side of 41st and Lexington Ave. I was like a block away in the office. At first I thought it was thunder, but it just kept going for like over 20 minutes it seemed, and it was very very loud.
Very scary, the NYPD says it was not terrorism. They say it was a steam explosion. Smoke and steam went up over the 45th floor. There was no black smoke like a fire though. People were running down Lexington. It was pretty scary, I was positive while in the area that it was terrorism.
It happened right around the corner from one of the biggest creators of traffic congestion in NYC.
Will Mayor Bloomberg do anything about Park Ave. being blocked off at 42nd street?
I think Mayor Nanny Bloomie is a very arrogant man. I also highly doubt he rides the subway that much. He's the mayor, I want someone driving him around so he can work and make calls and stuff. New Yorkers shouldn't want him wasting all that time on the subway.
We all have to wonder what Bloomberg is really thinking of with this congestion pricing tax scheme. Maybe he mostly just wants a new tax. Just wrap it up in ‘concern for the environment’, and then people can just demonize those who oppose it.
If he cares so much about traffic jams, congestion and air pollution, why does he let Park Avenue be blocked off? Why doesn’t he do anything about that?
It's true, Pershing Square Restaurant blocks Park Avenue going South at 42nd St. for about 12 hours a day/5 months of the year! This Causes Massive Congestion and Air Pollution!
But apparently it does not bother NYC’s Nanny-in-Chief Mike “Congestion Pricing Tax” Bloomberg?
It certainly supports his claim that the city is hugely congested.

@Littke Blue PD. If being stuck in a traffic jam is the worst of your problems and gets you hot and bothered regarding your mayor's carbon footprint and the wellbeing of our planet, maybe you could expand your scope a little. Hop on an environmentally devastating plane to Dubai and ask the sjeiks to stop buying SUV's , pumping water into swimming pools and running mega-aircon systems to cool down the buildings that would otherwise explode in th eheat of thet desert. Or, you could start convincing your neighbours to stop using a new plastic bag/container/jar for every ounce of food they buy to put into their mouths. Or for every coffee they drink at Starbucks. Still, I do admire your passion. It's good to get all hot and bothered about something.

Could you please stop being judgmental and stop belittling other people because you think their problems are not for real. Please keep in mind that your biggest problem to date is that you haven’t met Bono yet. Thanks for your consideration.
Thank you!
Thanks Noa and Arnon, but I don't drive; I just see all the other people stuck in traffic because of this lovely cafe. It's a great outdoor cafe, but it's just wrong. A penny saved is a penny earned, every little bit helps.
Okay Arnon, I'm such a bitch. I'll accept that. But why call me judgemental when - if you read closely- I'm actually not judgemental at all? Are you?
Anyway, I've clearly fallen from grace for wondering who gave you the beating you had and daring to touch on the subject of vulnerability. Would it help if I told you I do understand writing in itself is an act of vulnerability and I wasn't thinking straight when I asked you to open up? Or will you continue to hate me forever?
ps Arnon, actually: my biggest problem is wondering what to wear tomorrow.
Noa
If you don't know what to wear tomorrow buy something new. And don't worry about you fallen out of grace, I appreciate you and your comments very much. Actually I appreciate your comments more than my own comments.
Noa
PS Johannes was today named vice-president emotional development, so if you need to be pampered contact him. He is willing to do some shopping with you as well.
And now please stop whining.
Little Blue PD
Why exactly do your call yourself Little Blue PD? Are you in law enforcement? If so, what do you mean with little? Are you a dwarf?
Discount
Noa,
For social work I normally charge 25 euros an hour. Daytime that is and besides the additional costs. But for the cause I'll give you my usual 25% discount, so that makes 17,50 euros an hour.
