Aim

Desire

I had a conversation with a friend about Lacan and the end of the analysis. He sent me this:

"The end of analysis must be distinguished from the aim of psychoanalytic treatment.

The aim of treatment is to lead the analysand to articulate the truth about his or her desire.'

Read it here

I would say that this is the aim of literature as well. To seduce the reader to articulate, or at least to acknowledge the truth about his or her desire.
