A friend quoted this delightful sentence by Tom Friedman (who is usually not very good at writing delightful sentences) in the Times:

"Soon, automated systems will be so humanlike that they will have to self-identify as machines."

Humans should have the right to self-identify as machines, and in future the better automated systems will have the right to apply for human rights, and maybe for asylum as well.
