Never without

Gun

Since the army doesn’t provide me with transportation I’m dependent on a taxi driver to travel from base to base.
Today the taxi driver drove me from Tel Aviv to the Golan Heights and back. Tomorrow we will be going to Eilat.
He seems to be extremely happy with me as customer. His wife is from the Philippines, his third one, he carries always a gun and he loves saying things as: “Life is like a movie.” He doesn’t ask any questions -- that is the good thing about him.
Maybe it is because of his gun. “I go nowhere without her,” he told me proudly today.

Eilat? I 've read somewhere that the bordello's over there are pretty disgusting... :P
What kind of movie does your driver mean by saying Life is like a movie: B-movie, horror movie...?
Has he ever used his gun? Or is that inappropriate to ask?
Yes in those precarious life conditions, one needs a lot of reassurance from objects of all kind: weapons, magical amulets, etcetera…

By the way, how was the tank exercise?
Lots of taxi drivers carry a gun, not only in Israel. In Holland also, but they won't tell you.
Thanks for the article in De Morgen, hope to read more from you.

I asked him today, he said no.
