Strobl

Shorter and shorter

My entries are getting shorter and shorter, for obvious reasons: couch surfing is a time-consuming hobby.
On the picture: young Austrian booksellers for whom I read in Strobl. No money was exchanged, I got a place to crash for this reading.

The life a travelling monk.
Booksellers on a reading. I bet they're interested. Where's the grade? How many booksellers can a place have? I would like some milk from the milkman
Arnon
Are you also going to Croatia? I know a good address from a fan of yours. in Zagreb. He tried to translate a book of yours in Croation just as a hobby. He would be pleased.
By the way, your column about Rita Verdonk in Humo this week was very touching. Today I woke up in the middle of the night in a profound melancholic mood. You must be a good writer.
@Jan
So getting you in a melancholic mood is making Arnon a good writer... Mmm, interesting ;-). What was the result of all this melancholia? Or did you just loose some sleep over it :-).
@Natasza
Have you read it? The desire for success, love and recognition by (and projected on) Rita Verdonk and the idea of The Rita Verdonk International Airport (formerly known as Schiphol Airport) are very powerful images that made me melancholic about all kind of ‘strebers’, including myself. To make such an impression, it has to be quite well written.
Now I got into the mood to read Dostojewski, Evil Spirits. Today I even bought Vera M’s book, but I will save it for my next holiday. So Arnon is an important link in my chain of reading.
@Jan
I was just kidding, but I know exactely what you mean. I have the same with his work and get amazed by it each time. Could you send me the article maybe, I have not read it and can't seem to find the proper link to it. I am reading Dostojewski as we speak.

Arnon's work also makes me very much aware of the weaker points of our species, and yes melancolic would be a good way to describe it.
@Natasza
No problem, I will make a scan and send it to your e-mail address on your site, this evening.
What are you reading from Dostojewski now?
@Jan
Txs Jan, this is highly appreciated :-). I am reading Crime & Punishment again. It is always funny to see how many little beauties and secrets a book can show you after reading it a again, especially after a few years. This is one of those books.
