Smoking and drinking

The love of others

I’m back in Venice in the same hotel, the same room, where exactly four weeks ago my trip to Iraq started.
I came to Venice to pick up my duffel bag, my flake jacket, my helmet (you never know when you need these items again) and also to meet the editor and publisher of my new novel.
The editor is in love and the publisher quit smoking and drinking.
One is now a little bit too much over the moon to my taste, the other one is a bit too healthy.
I was happy when I arrived here but to see somebody else in love is a fairly melancholic, not to say depressing sight.

I wonder how I look when I am in love. Lost?
But then maybe the publisher who just stopped smoking and drinking was able to cheer you up a bit?
@Arnon
Then Venice is definitely the wrong place to be. Keep your eyes open, Italians are very expressive. If you are observe well, you will probably see one or two expressively arguing Italian couples with severe relation problems, which might brighten up your day...
delete the are for observe.... apologies.
To be in love is not such a groyse metsie.

Keep sneakin' in an error now and then. The rectifications of comments are to be considered poetry.

"Delete the are, for observe: apologies!"

You propably already saw this film, but if not I think you might enjoy it: le conseguenze dell'amore. A film by Paolo sorrentino (2003). A guy is locked up in a hotel for the past eight years, then he falls in love.....
One way of being in love is - for me- just as 'depressing' as watching people who are happily (shall I use this word? I can use others as well, but I just want to give a picture of smilingfornothing people) in love. And you don't get over it in couple of hours. Unfortunately.
I think you are happy. :)

Actually I wrote an article about this film.
Beinging in love fades slowely away with the years. What keeps you together are the childeren that came out of that relationship.
After all those years you come to the conclusion that all things are perisheble.
So please don't be depressed.All good things come to an end.
@Arnon/Dens, the wonders of Myspace
Regarding your comment to Dens on Myspace, I thought this was pretty cool.
I say: Dens - go for it!

@Pjotr, on a great blog by a Belgian guy, it keeps me posted on what's going on regarding 'The Wonders of the Literary World' (and not only the Dutch or Belgian Wonders...).
