Spy
Binoculars
My taxi driver had a pair of binoculars next to the driver’s seat. Not your average binoculars, a huge pair.
I asked him: “Excuse me what do you need this binoculars for? Are you a spy?’
He answered: “Yes, I’m a spy. But sometimes it's hard to see the house numbers and then I use my binoculars.”
On a different note: a friend sent me a mail tonight saying that the end of Belgium might have come a little bit closer, after prime-minister Leterme offered his resignation.
Some people believe the end of the world is near.
Perhaps Belgium is avant-garde.

I would be very surprised if the actions of an inconsequential man like Leterme would have any influence over the destiny of a country.
You look forward to the end of Belgium?
"Yes, I am a spy"--there is poetry in there, Jan, do you see it?
Please explain
Maarten
Quite the opposite.
Leterme has no imagination. Just one very silly idea that someone talked him into. I am convinced the chances of Belgium to continue existing, are a lot bigger without him - just like the chances of me ever returning to live there again.
The photo looks like it was made in Madame Tusseauds: L shaking hands with a copy of M for a funny picture. Or for one that everyone would take seriously because the papers were in need of this picture.
The bv Belgium is for sale (not the end of the World, yet).

No actual spy would ever say that line, unless after heavy torture. I don't think driving Arnon around qualifies as such. In poetry however, these things are common stock.

Could you be more elaborate on your sentiments towards Belgium?
Pjötr
What exactly do you mean?
To me, that sentece is more annoyance than poetry, but as Einstein once said "Dem Reinen ist Alles rein, dem Schweinen ist Alles schwein"

Even under the slightest pressure, I would admit that I am a spy, maybe a double spy or a triple or even worse.
belgium!
I'm glad those who hope Belgium will exist for some centurys to come, can count on your support. What do you like best about Belgium?

Take care not to deflate words.

I’m against partition of Belgium. Yes, very much so. But this does not mean that my sentiments regarding Belgium are stronger than let’s say my sentiments regarding Cyprus, Iraq, or Italy.
