Telephone

Last poem

After the conversation on Saturday in Pordenone a woman asked me if I wanted to read Raymond Carver’s poem “The painter and the fish.” A young Italian artist, Carlo Dalcielo, who does not “really” exist, made several works of art inspired by Carver’s last poem. The exhibition can still be seen in Pordenone.
Part of the idea is that all authors present in Pordenone for the festival are being filmed while reading the poem in either Italian or English.
“Yes, no problem,” I answered.
I particularly enjoyed reading this line by Carver: “By the time he’d reached home/ he’d quit smoking and vowed never/ to talk on the telephone again.”

Greetings,

What happened that morning
I like this one by Raymond Carver:

An Afternoon

As he writes, without looking at the sea,
he feels the tip of his pen begin to tremble.
The tide is going out across the shingle.
But it isn't that. No,
it's because at that moment she chooses
to walk into the room without any clothes on.
Drowsy, not even sure where she is
for a moment. She waves the hair from her forehead.
Sits on the toilet with her eyes closed,
head down. Legs sprawled. He sees her
through the doorway. Maybe
she's remembering what happened that morning.
For after a time, she opens one eye and looks at him.
And sweetly smiles.
I like this one (I stumbled on it by coincidence):
“And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.”
(from 'Last Fragment')
Ik heb net een reis naar Griekenland geboekt, anders zou ik deze tentoonstelling van Karel van de Hemel graag hebben bezocht. Heerlijke foto van een roker!

Groet,

Good vow.
My father, who is a dreamy man, sometimes just hangs up when I speak to him. I sometimes do that too.
Did Carver intend this to be his last poem?
I came back from France yesterday. My internet was broken until an hour ago. I failed my exams. Who wants to hire me for anything?

What did I miss? Should I read something in this history?
I've been quite sad the last week, but as Mr. Arnon once said: Hope is the last thing to die. And it hasn't died completely I guess.
@Dens, I'm relieved to see you back.
Not only mr. Arnon said that, I believe it was Seneca (surely someone will correct me if I got that wrong).

We discovered that Eric is a twelve year old who gets glowing little ears when we talk about sex.

Mieke considers trying a male prostitute, I don't know if that could be something, otherwise I might need a 'handyman' in Italy, you won't get payed but isn't life all about experiences?
Btw, there is no network back here, so no talking to the phone, you' will be on your own except the wonder called internet of course.
Strasse
Strasse, it's a mistake to think just anybody can be a successful prostitute.
David
not 'we' David, you discovered it.
Only you.
When do you start teaching me.....?

What are you doing up so late, little Eric? Go to bed right now.
