Good experiences

Homesick

And now for something completely different: my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam remains Le Hollandais but I also had two good experiences with a restaurant called Utrechtsedwarstafel.
This does not imply that I don’t miss my Sant Ambroeus in New York.

During my stay in Amsterdam I had a few good meals at the Amsterdam Bazar.

(And a much better mint tea (& a delicious baklava) than in the First Class Amsterdam Restaurant at the Central Station.)
@Arnon, maybe it's time you tried a different cuisine in NY sometime - do you like Japanese? If so, you may know this one but just in case - http://www.noburestaurants.com/newyork/index.html
And for drinks among stars like yourself take your amante to the dimmed light Bowery Hotel (chances are your cocktails will be sharing a table with JLo's cocktails)

Wow, twice my stretched out self.
Noa
I cannot stand Nobu.
There are much better Japanese restaurants in NYC.
Arnon
How do you like Woo Ping? I always see van Zonneveld with someone, when I walk by, but I still haven't eat there.
@Arnon, well, you have noticed before that I'm not the most refined of people so I suppose that does make sense.
arnon, something else
sometimes i wonder...with all your travelling, writing pieces for magazines and newspapers, lecturing, dining,etc.... when do you find the time to read, write sleep? do you have a writing schedule or routine?

Discipline.
where 's "Het Collectief"?
Arnon: If there were a clone of Sant Ambroeus in Amsterdam, would you go there or would you wait until you got back to New York?
Is there a postive correlation between good restaurants and proper bathrooms?
And how does the hygiene level of the bathroom weigh in the judgement of the restaurant? I realised my therapy days were over since I didn't remember restaurants more on their bathrooms than on their menu. But maybe somehow i was just beginning to frequent better restaurants .
arnon,...but still...
discipline is chained to the ftemporary fact that there are only 24 hours in a day

Rarely is a copy as good as the original.

Just out of curiosity: What is so wrong with Nobu?

There is something pretentious about Nobu. My favorite Japanese restaurant is on 43rd and 3rd.
Kitano is not bad either.
@Arnon - but looking past pretence or (as Dens called it) form, what do you think of the food there? I was there for lunch and it did not strike me as pretentious at all. A place like LHollandais where they treat people who are not national celebrities (people like me) like shit on the other hand....
Noa
At Le Hollandais all guests are equally worthless.
@Arnon, now that made me smile!
