Defense

Unfair

A couple of days ago near Mumbai a monkey attacked my companion.
I hate to say this but she lost the fight.
She had to hand over all the potato chips she was carrying in order to pacify the monkey.
I didn’t come to her defense.
Two human beings against one monkey is unfair.

So the monkeys over there, not only do they steal, but they also rob you. At least they do not use excessive violence, they act as gentlemen robbers.
Maybe it was the monkey who came to the rescue. Although they recently discovered a new sort of potatoe crips (they're not called chips in English, although it might differ in American English) which are more healthy (and purple), potatoe crisps remain a very unhealthy snack. I should know, for I eat too much of them.
I wish I had a monkey to steal the bad food out of my hands.
Most things are healthy in moderation.

I do imagine that it can be quite a scene when 2 people on foot fight 1 monkey. I find it peculair that the British call "chips" "crisps" and the American "potato chips". Fortunately that's only one of the easy differences. I find that English language differences sometimes confuse things, especially when you live between the UK and the US like me.
I think the crisps or potato chips are not so important, It’s more important and strange that Arnon doesn’t protect his companion at all. Maybe we can conclude that traveling with this writer is a very big danger in many ways.
David
Arnon is a feminist. That means he doesn't give protection to his female compag nions, quite the contrary; he expects it for himself.
Mieke
Yes, very much indeed.
Gee!
Say if Arnon female companion would be raped he wouldn't stir a finger because he is a feminist? That's kind of awkward.
Feminism can be a handicap
Selective Feminism
I wonder how often Arnon's dates offer to buy him his outfit.
Fat
Maybe the monkey thought your companion was fat and came to your rescue by stealing bad food out of her hands.
Feminist?
Animal liberationist it seems more like. Marianne Thiema would be proud.
I really had to laugh when I read this entry because I instantly saw this couple before me. Her struggling to get rid of the monkey and him calling over from a safe distance: "You have to understand that, darling. I would love to come to your rescue but two against one is just really unfair."

It reminds me of an anecdote a friend told me quite a few years ago. She must have been 14 or thereabouts and went for a walk in the fields with her parents. They accidently got onto a meadow where bulls were grazing and realized this when seeing themselves eye to eye with one of the animals. When my friend and her mother turned around to check their options in order to get out of this safely they noticed that the father had taken to his heels and was already over the next fence despite his remarkable body weight calling good advice in their direction.

No offence meant!
