Offer
Disengagement
Last night I was not able to get a cab. A limo driver stopped and offered me a ride to 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue for twenty dollars. I accepted this reasonable offer.
“Do you mind the radio?” the driver asked.
“Not at all,” I answered.
The driver was listening to “Animal Radio”.
It was the first time ever I listened to this radio station and it was nothing less than a revelation.
Disengagement from reality has its advantages.

Barking, lowing, neighing, miaowing,peeping,...
Animal Radio
it's a lot of talking all the time. I guess it's a solution to leave the pets at home if the family is several days from home. Just put on this radiostation .
It is about pet sitting and making a lot of money and about warships (!) and ghosts, and so on. Wonderful. But disengagement of reality?...

Is disengagement from reality possible?
Was that where you wanted to be? 2nd Str and 2nd Ave?
@Arnon
It is commonly accepted that for example psychosis, or whatever we call it, is a disengagement from reality. But is psychosis – like dreams – not a part of reality? Although, we are must stay aware of the distinction between, psychosis, dreams and the ‘common or everyday’ reality. Fluid and tricky business, if you ask me.
The recent killings in Dendermonde (Belgium) make those remarks relevant again, I think.

Isn't focussing on pets a flight from reality?
@Arnon
I would prefer to call it, narrowing down reality.
What a suprise to learn a radio station like that exists. I guess that's something else than wfmu.

My favourite disengagement from reality (also a psychosis) is love.
