An incident

Unnoticed

A friend sent me this article:

“BAGHDAD (AP) -- Three U.S. soldiers and an interpreter were killed Monday during fighting north of Baghdad, the military announced.

The combat took place in Diyala province, an area northeast of Baghdad that remains volatile despite an overall drop in violence nationwide.

The statement did not provide more details.

The attack came two weeks after a suicide car bomber struck a U.S. patrol in the northern city of Mosul, killing four American soldiers and an Iraqi interpreter in the deadliest single attack against U.S. forces in nine months.”

On Monday I drove from Baghdad to FOB Warhorse, which is in Diyala, but nobody here speaks about this incident, at least not to me. It seems to go unnoticed.

To quote the article furthermore “The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to release the information.”
Unnoticed: maybe in the end, even war becomes a boring event.
Arnon,
What brings you to Iraq?

By now you should have noticed that war sucks, in the way that when it comes to hurting. A friend of mine is from Iraq and lives in the Neherlands for more than 20 years, and he keeps telling me about friends and family being killed. I admire your courage and presence there, but war sucks, Arnon. Still love your work.

It is being unnoticed as long as noone notices anything. You're doing a great job.
