Concert
I'm not sure
The elderly lady in this picture is a famous singer in Iraq. I have been told that her name is Aviva Sqandr. (My notebook might betray me – I was not able to find Aviva Sqandr on the internet.)
Yesterday afternoon Aviva Sqandr gave a concert at the Alwyah Club In Baghdad. I attended only the press conference.
To be honest I’m not sure what I’m doing in this picture.

Maybe you're enjoying the simple pleasures of life, while at the same time knowing life, Baghdad-life in particular, isn't made of simple pleasure.
I always felt a soft smile is the best metaphor for pacifism.
I like Oum Kalsoum a lot..
Dear Mieke,
First Goldberg-variations,
then Francis Bacon
and now Oum Kalsoum......
where does it stop?
yours, Eric
Dear Eric
Does it need to stop? Imagine an infinite universe. Even two parallel lines have a crossing point in space.
This time you look like our minister of economy, innovation and simplicity, Vincent Van Quickenborne, he also appears everywhere without a reason. He never needs a reason. He is the reason himself.

I guess that counts for most politicians.
What a great picture. It made me smile out loud.

Quicky reminds me of Forrest Gump, he seems to be popping up everywhere.

Do you consider publishing a photo book? I think there must be a big market for a nice photobook.

The transcription given to me by an Iraqi of her name is Afifa Skandar.

Thanks!
