Suburb

This afternoon I arrived in a suburb of the Dutch city of Utrecht. I will spend the next ten days of my life in this suburb. Every night I’ll stay with a different family (I won’t visit bachelors) and I will report about this visits in a Dutch newspaper.
My first host is a lovely woman from Turkish descent who had prepared a delicious Turkish meal for me.
I’m sleeping in her daughter’s bed; the daughter herself is currently studying in Spain.

That's an interesting endeavour. Are you gonna walk with a dog in the neigbourhood?
which newspaper?
I am looking forward to it ! : ))
oh, this bed looks like an 8.
I see the shadow of your smile on the wall.
To Arnon
The Dutch newspaper AD writes that you have a jewish-socialist background.
Is the latter true?

Jewish yes. Socialist not that I know.
Did the newspaper AD believe that this endeavour is typical for a Jewish socialist?
That's an interesting buste on the bed. Would you think the daughter subliminized her sexual appetite on this buste with the male symbole on it?
Dens
I asked myself the same question.
Pjötr
Arnon calls himself a capitalist. Normaly that's not consistant with socialism.
still looking for a place?
We live in Overvecht, one of the old 'vogelaarwijken', on the 9th floor. Interesting view from our flat, where the strangest things happen every now & then. You're welcome, just let me know.
To Arnon
The AD did not go that far. Full quote below

I am not sure whether he calls himself a capitalist.

When filling out 'De Stemwijzer' he said: it doesn't surprise me that it sees me as centre left - he was appointed to the party Groen-Links

I quoted roughly

I think it's wise from Arnon to hide his real political colour and leave it to the field of speculation. That way, right or left can read in it whatever he wants and ask the question/"Does he ,Arnon, mean it or is it written with irony?"
Mieke
It’s not true that I hide my “political colors”. (I’m not affiliated with a political party but that’s a different matter.) That my positions not always fit ideological stereotypes is not my fault. Also I don’t believe that all positions on all subjects need to be shared with the public. And sometimes it can be wise to be indifferent.
FYI nowadays, there is not a big difference between a socialist and a capitalist
Laurens
Well, I'm afraid I'm fully booked for the nights, but perhaps I can come by for coffee.
Arnon
Is there a specific reason why youare excluding bachelor's from this "anthropological experiment" (if I may call it that)?
Batta
No special reason at all. Although the divorce rate is quite high in this neighborhood I believe families with children are in the majority. It's possible that no bachelor was willing to have me.
Coffee
Sure thing, that would be fun. Let me know when you are around, you're welcome at anytime (except I'll be at work during the daytime mostly though). My email address is in this system somewhere so you'll know where to reach me. Cheers.
Arnon
What are your political affinities, my love?
Are you an adept of the green philosophy of life? Or a strong believer of social democracy? Or after all a secret fan of Bush and his conservative values?
Laurens
Okay.
Mieke
Your crude ideas about political affinities don’t appeal to me at all.
Arnon
What's crude about them? There is a difference between literature and politics.
Mieke
If you like the word pedestrian better, that's fine me.
Your pedestrian question does not require an answer.
That's the very nature of politics.
