Different people
Hobby
“Have you ever met a slut?” my companion asked over dinner last night.
The restaurant had two outdoor tables and we got one of them.
An American in his fifties was filming the owner of the restaurant who was busy explaining the wine to the American.
“Well,” I said, “sometimes I think of myself as a slut and of course I know promiscuous people, but a real slut, a person who engages in casual sex with different people on a daily or weekly basis, no, perhaps not.”
“And your friend X?” my companion asked.
“X, no way,” I said. “A sex worker is not a slut. For a slut sex is a hobby. She is not my friend anymore by the way. But how about your friend Y?”
“No,” my companion said, “probably she was a slut, but since she is together with Z she stopped being a slut. And being a slut didn’t make her happy. Don’t fool yourself. It was pure despair.”
“So a slut is never happy?” I asked.
“No.”
“And we don’t know any sluts personally?”
“Apparently not,” my companion said.
Then we finished our meal.

Would you like to know any sluts personally? What would you want to know about them. And when do you feel like a slut yourself?
Slut. It sounds soothing.

Meeting a slut for coffee is not my highest priority in life.
If your question is an invitation I wish you well but I politely decline.
The question was nothing more than a question.
I am not a slut and not interested in coffee.
Arnon
Is it the old woman inside you that sometimes feels like a slut?
Mieke
Yes, exactly.
Finally a smart comment.

Don't underestimate your talents.
Did the American order Irish wine? Did you guys have some ? How did it taste? I have this theory that island wines always taste more tart, but I've still a lot of islands to visit.

why are you staying in dublin?
what makes you love eire so much? if you do... i guess so...
Pam
I have an apartment in Dublin.
I do like Dublin a lot by the way.

If you read this entry carefully you will notice that I spoke about last night and if you read the entry of June 25th you will notice that I was in Amsterdam on the 25th of June. In other words: this conversation took place in Amsterdam. No need to make jokes about Irish wine. Speaking of which, it’s a bit bizarre to think that restaurants in Dublin will offer Irish wines. FYI you can have an excellent meal in Dublin. Many French chefs work here.
Please, next time do the thinking yourself.

i already thought your having an apartment there, lucky you!
the first time i went to ireland, i deeply felt in love with the country, it's so beautiful! have you been to the aran islands?
why do you like dublin?
The Irish tend to produce white wines, but also make a few reds. The vineyards are clustered around Cork, in the southwest corner of the island. Look, I wasn't joking, I'm a wine lover who obviously wasn't paying enough attention to the dates. And the conversation about the slut did not catch my attention. sigh.

It must be wonderful to have an apartment there and visit from time to time. I have never been in Ireland. But lately my friend has visited and her pictures of the coast and nature impressed me a lot. So very beautiful and unspoiled. She flew there again this weekend.
As a student in England more than 10 years ago I lived with 58 people in a home, most of them were Irish and I found them super friendly and great company. Enjoy your stay.
Pam
Quite a few people will disagree but I would argue that Dublin is the European city that reminds me somehow of New York.
Marie
I didn't know anythig about Irish wines. Thanks for the info. Last year I came across a Dutch wine in an expensive restaurant in Amsterdam (Le Ciel Bleu). Out of curiosity I was tempted to try it.
I'm willing to explore the world of a slut, if i could get it black on white that i have actual talents in being a slut.
For now i am quite satisfied with the talents i have and know about.
There is some nice sex related negotiating going on here today. Wonderful! Love the demands for references and getting it in writing-thing.

As I pointed out to you having coffee with a sluttish person is currently not the highest priority in my life.
I'm not sure if sluttishness requires talents, but this might my naiveté.
Good luck with your research.
An old colleague of mine was a famous (male) slut, by your definition. In Flemish, he was called ‘De loketbuk’.
But I do not know anything about his level of happiness, although he always smiled and made a lot of noise. He drank a lot too.
Dublin
I have lived in Dublin for 2 years now, to me it sounds a lot more 'exotic' than it actually is. I'm sorry Arnon, but I'm not a huge Ireland fan, even though I live her. The scenery is very nice on the coasts, but I find much of the Midlands boring. Ah well, I guess it is not very fair to be so negative about a country. I do agree that Irish people are friendly and talkative, no problem to have a chat in the pub. I think Ireland is the most Americanised country in Europe. But Dublin and NYC? I know many people who see things completely different.
Lies
I said alrady: "Many people will disagree." Dublin has become an immigrant city, this aspect of the city reminds me of NYC. That's all. If you wish to move to NYC you should take action.
Arnon
I don't know where I want to live, I find it a difficult thing. I'm sure my boyfriend would love to go back to NYC, unfortunately I'm not be able to work in NYC as a cattle vet, my current profession. Maybe I should consider specialising in nail clipping of chihuahua's instead.
Lies
Why not.
Arnon
To be honest, I quite dislike small dogs, and frequently their owners. Working outside in the country does have its appeal.
