No

Courage

In today’s Herald Tribune Gail Collins writes: ‘Meanwhile, Scott McAdams, the Democratic candidate, is introducing himself to the voters. This will take some time because McAdams’s big claim to fame is being mayor of Sitka, a town of 8,700 with no road access.
“I’m a big guy from a small town,” he told a group at the Anchorage Senior Activity Center.
“Will you have the courage to tell us what we don’t want to hear?” demanded a man with a long, gray beard.
This sounded like a trick question. Obviously, the bearded man wanted to hear, “yes.” Did that mean McAdams should be brave and say “no”? McAdams said that he would definitely have the courage to say no to lobbyists.’

Interesting question: do you have the courage to tell us what we don’t want to hear?

Everybody should ask his or her significant other frequently: "Could you tell me a few things I don't like to hear?"

One thing is for sure, if we want to hear things we don’t like we cannot count on politicians only.

I honestly already tried to tell you things from wich I thought you wouldn't like them or that would irritate you. I don't know if I succeeded.
no=yes?
The answer of this McAdams is also rather interesting: he will have the courage to say no to lobbyists.
That's probably not what lobbyists want to hear, but is it what the gray bearded man wanted to hear?
In other words: did he answer the question? Does he have the courage to say what the man doesn't want to hear?
I don't want to hear what I don't want to hear. Even when I hear what I want to hear, it's like I'm hearing something I don't want to hear. I 've got a suspicious mind.

@Simon Nak: When you're only repeating mr. Grunberg it might be wiser to stay quiet.
Nope. I don't have the courage (or the heart) to tell my significant other what he doesn't want to hear and the price for this is high.
For that thing, I can always count on my girl friend, that is for sure.
I always try to cherish before I "chatouille".
noble hypocrisy.
@ L. David
In my opinion I'm adding something, not just repeating.

Or at the very least I didn't repeat Arnon Grunberg but Gail Collins' words.
counting on everyone...
You made me laughing out loud, Arnon!

I'm sorry for being rude. I felt sorry after a while, but couldn't alter the comment. You're free to speak.
no problem.
