Help

My assistant Johannes came to New York to help me reorganize my library.

Johannes is a treasure. Give him a big hug from me.
Is the reorganization done by colour, subject or writer ?
Arnon
Looking at the amount of assistants, girlfriends , editors, etc. you need, isn't it ime you consider yourself as a very dependant person.
This is how I picture it: the established author Arnon Grunberg, sitting in an dressing gown, bored and dissatisfied, looking at his books, calling Johannes at 4 o’clock Greenwich mean time.
“Johannes, can you come to New York tomorrow? My books needs rearranging. Thank you.” And then putting down the phone.
But this is just a phantasy. Bye for now.
dependent (typo).
This doesn't mean I'm insinuating that you have DPD.
Beautiful mind
Is johannes an imaginary friend, like in the movie beautiful mind?
Milan
No Milan, I am the diagnosed schizo, not Arnon. Johannes van der Sluis is his trusted assistant.
Milan,
In case I would have an imaginary friend, he wouldn't reorganize my library.
Karima
Lol:) What would he do?
Arnon
Please say 'hi' to Johannes from me! :)
After (re)organizing my books, I could hardly find my way in my library. But I like organizing.
Hi Johannes ! Courage for a nice job.
I'd rather have someone to carpenter me another shelf, well or just buy one. My books are slowly but surely spilling over onto the floor. With under 1000 there's no need for organization yet.
How many books does one have to own before one starts to call it his library?
Yes and I imagined his apartment in New york to be rather tiny. Since he doesn't cook, maybe he rearranged his kitchen.

Library, Collection, etc...
It merely depends on the ego of the owner, I am afraid.
Someone must have postuled an analytic philosophic definition. I always call my collection "the bookcase". I may call it my library after adding a second bookcase. It's a shame, however, that bookcases are so expensive nowadays.
Love my library subscription card.

A library consists of at least 5000 books.
And a bookcase needn't be that expensive: that is to say if you can hold a hammer and/or a screwdriver.
Buy some planks at some DIY store, fix them to the wall, and put your books on them.
For the price of one book these days (let's say about $ 20.-) you can buy three planks of 2.50 meters.
That should take care of everything....
