Platoon sergeant
Parking lot
On Sunday afternoon the entrance of restaurant Milano on Dawson Street resembles a parking lot for strollers.
Next to our table a young couple with their two young children were eating a pizza.
After a few bites one of the children threw a fit.
Whatever the parents tried the child wouldn't stop crying.
The father stepped outside with the toddler.
The mother tried to finish her pizza but it was clear that she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
For the first time that I realized that parenthood is war. It’s not something you should do with your beloved one – it’s something you should do with the assistance of a platoon sergeant, a nurse, a cook and a couple of dogs.

St. Augustine
This reminds me of reading St. Augustine's Confessiones. He mentioned the 'sins of babies'.
A colleague of mine, who travels a lot, once told me that he was very surprised that little children in the so called third world are mostly easy going and relaxed. Indeed, in our countries in the West you see a lot of crying, shouting and misbehaving toddlers.
Can anyone confirm this?

Malnutrition?
@Mieke
Malnutrition? Here or over there ? (Here, he kids are always eating, it seems to me)
Too many sugars over here, too little nutrients over there?
Poor children mature early
& parenting is also very different
I mean the child is rarely the only responsable for this kind of temper ...

I was a rich child. Does this mean I matured late?
