Symposium
Normality
During a symposium on literature Daniel Kehlmann asked me if I thought that many of my characters were trying to construct normality in order to escape their own madness.
I liked the idea that normality is just something you construct.

Normality is a construction based on rhytm. Getting up, having coffee, going to work, coming from work, having dinner, watching tele, sleep. When this rhytm is disturbed is when people are lost. Some people call it normality or stability others call it being braindead. Me I have no idea what it is but my old man always told me: "Doe normaal dat is al gek genoeg. "
turn it around
I always thought that you construct madness to escape normality!
I'm with Jos.
I always longed to be normal.

I made many constructions to escape madness, some incredibly insane.
@Mieke
Indeed. Humor is an appropriate ointment to prevent too much friction between normality and madness.
