Family
Depravation
Yesterday we interviewed two politicians, the first one helpful, the second one slightly less helpful.
In the meantime the level of conversation dropped dramatically. (As I mentioned before I'm here with the two winners of a contest I organized, furthermore I'm here in the presence of a guide/god, George, his brother and a driver.)
Timme (one of the winners) declared yesterday over lunch: “I never made out with my grandmother.”
Lutek (the other winner) got in contact with two working ladies at a restaurant. Besides that he doesn’t bother to get a glass anymore, he opens the fridge, takes the bottle and drinks. (A certain person here treats Timme as a fashion model and takes pictures of him all the time, especially after 8 pm. But I won't mention any names.)
I guess this is the result when you are kind of young, married and you describe yourself as a misanthrope, without using that word actually.
In other words: we have become one big family, maybe a happy family, when we eat, but I'm relieved to declare that tomorrow night the family will be dissolved.
(As you can see on the picture: the goldmines made me happy.)

…next to a guardian angel you can trust. I am not sure about God.

I'm not sure how you can trust an angel and distrust God. You cannot have your cake and eat it too my dear friend. If you want God take his angels, if you don't want God don't fool around with his angels. You recently mentioned your girlfriend, try to be faithful till the fourth of July, after that everything is possible. This is what my astrologer told me and he asked me to pass the word on to you.
But OF COURSE a certain someone is taking pictures if Timme. The guy looks like a mix between Leonardo de Caprio and Hugh Grant. He should whisk his ass over to David Lachapelle's studio and sell it for a lot of money (maybe he could start with Erwin Olaff, although why not shoot for the stars, head for the best
http://www.davidlachapelle.com. ) Arnon, if by any chance La Chapelle happens to be a NY acquaintance of yours...well anyway, you get my drift.
@Arnon
Your logic is a real life saver too.
No hard feelings, I understand. Goodbye.
Jan Thys
You mean my logic or my astrologer's?
Noa
Are you developing certain feelings for this Timme? Don't you have any decency left or do you want me to sell Timme to you? Answer the second question first.
(Have you ever contacted Johannes for a cup of coffee?)
Did the level of conversation drop before, after or during the interview of the second politician? Or was it all essay-people's fault?

I can say I liked Timme's essay better than Lutek's. But I do respect elderly people, I think.
He's a bit too young for me but clearly: the camera likes him. Is it such a crime to admire beauty? Intelligence is obviously a more admirable and ultimately desirable trait (therefore I'd be more interested to know what price I'd have to pay for you?). In the meantime: why not applaud beauty while it lasts?
Noa
Did I imply that it is a crime to admire beauty? I don’t think so.
Just keep in mind that beauty is for sale. Of course intelligence is for sale as well but in my experience slightly more expensive.
Admiring beauty and then stating that you are too old for it is very wise and moderate, but also a little bit well easy.
Or maybe you are just insecure.
Don’t think that you are not beautiful enough for Timme. It was my “fixer” in Lebanon who quoted The Doors: “I need somebody who doesn’t need me.” Think about this when you admire beauty again. And by the way have you ever thought about the question where admiring beauty stops and lust begins? If you know the answer come back to me.
Admiring beauty is a passive act of generosity, lust is an aggressive act of greed.
Noa
Admiring beauty is an act of generosity, well only if you feign admiration in order to comfort someone – in all other cases admiring beauty has nothing to do with generosity. I’ll give you another chance.
@Arnon
In a situation of survival one can grasp almost everything as a life saver (from God, to hallucinations, to logic, even to astrology and worse). I am sure you understand very well, you are intelligent and well informed. Later, we all can have a good laugh about it, do we?
I recently read somebody is willing to die for you. Have you or this person already been eye in eye with somebody who is going to slay you? And to bribe for every inch of your life? Or the life of your beloved ones?
I like a joke, a discussion, not remarks, I consider rather cheap.
Okay, how about this: beauty ends where lust begins?
Alright, I'll stop the word games. The actual point is this: some other guy on this blog commented on how he wanted to know more of Timme. This is what had me even noticing him. And then you said pictures are being taken of Timme, and so I had yet another look. Therefore: beauty is something someone else decides is beauty and then it becomes something we all want too. Jan once praised Andrea's beauty and I still remember her name (even her last name).
So: beauty is lust is greed. You're right. We admire the object of beauty because we want to be beautiful ourselves. If we can't be beautiful, that's when we lust after it. Admiring beauty is therefore an entirely selfish frame of mind.
Jan Thys
I might have misunderstood you, but do you need a lifesaver, is there anything I can do for you?
Jan Thys
PS Yes, I have been eye to eye with the person who is willing to die for me but I hope he meant it ironic, I don’t want anybody to die for me.
Noa
I’m not sure if admiring beauty is by nature a selfish act but that it is a sign of generosity, no that is a bit too romantic for me early in the morning. Are you beautiful, Noa? Timme asked me: “Is Noa a man or a woman?” I answered: “She is a beautiful woman.”
I hope you can live up to his expectations.
@Arnon
You can always write more books.
I enjoyed your work (A kind of a live saver too, or a mind saver) Yes, as you know, books can do that too.
That is all now. Thank you. I am obliged.
@Arnon: his or yours?
You know the cliché: beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. In other words, no, I'm not beautiful and honestly: i wish I was because we all know pretty faces open doors and opportunities (Timme's a good example). I'm not a man though either.
A wise man once said "he who isn't superficial is stupid, because the true world lies in the things we can see". I believe it was Oscar Wilde with some different words. I liked it.
@Noa, if you don't think you're beautiful, who can you ever expect anyone to think differently?
@Dens - but I don't expect anyone to think differently. Frankly, I don't care what they think.
@Noa
If you wished you were beautiful, as you said so before,I think you care, no?
