Overheard this afternoon on Lexington Avenue.
A slightly overweight teenager was taking a stroll with her parents.
Mother: “They were high school sweethearts.”
Daughter: “Are they a good couple?”
Mother: “Oh yes, they were dating for eight years before they got engaged.”
Daughter: (Mumbling something)
Mother: “What?”
Daughter: “Eight years.” (Mumbling again)
Mother: "Yes, eight years, they were ready for something bigger.”
