Your absence
Because you never know
This afternoon I arrived with a delay of more than three hours – going to the dentist is paradise compared to flying nowadays – in my apartment in Dublin. It was pouring rain, but despite the rain, the delay; a sensitive jaw because of the smacks I have received Saturday I was glad to be home.
The lady who is taking care of the apartment had done a wonderful job, as always.
(Of course this doesn’t imply that New York is not home – I’m not monogamous when it comes to being home.)
Nevertheless I would like to have a third apartment, maybe somewhere in Latin America, because you never know.
Once upon a time I had a bank account in Bolivia.
Alexander Hemon said that home is where someone notices your absence. But that someone can be your account manager as well.

Congratuliations, you remained for exactly 19 days in New York , that is your record since the beginning of this blog.

Thank you for being the bookkeeper of my movements. So I haven’t been in the same place for more than nineteen days since April 2006 probably.
I should think about this.
But I’m very glad that you are sending me congratulations.
So, we can say that this site is your home as well? And my home? So we share homes? That's nice. I like sharing.
Home
Me, I feel at home where Hannie is. She is the best.
Comparing your blog entry 19 days ago to this one today, one would think Dublin is the home where you feel most at home (sheltered / away from people, noise, crowds, baseball bats), but you being a writer, it might be you need a place like NY to do your best writing (?) . Where do you do you best writing, or has that nothing to do with it?
Bolivia is not exactly Latin-America. If you can ever find a good place in Costa Rica - outside of the capital - don't think twice.
Where is it that people miss you? (writing a daily blog wherever you are in the world doesn't exactly help making a particular place your home.) (Are you sure you want a home, in that sense?)
Shake a jetleg!
Best regards
I do not speak Russian. Schumlanski is a name.
I feel at home when i am writing. I feel at home observing other people. I feel at home on this website, wether you will miss me or not.
Emotional developments
For a hermit like me all these happy thougts I read so far about feeling at home with other people are very discomforting.
PS
Ok, so 'a bit discomforting'. As we all know, Jan Thys is the drama queen here.
Lutek
Bolivia is very much part of Latin America.
Johannes / Dens
Johannes, even a hermit is dependent on others don’t you think? And necessity might change your habits and preferences.
Dens, this site is more like a brothel than a home, but of course some people might feel very much at home in a brothel, especially a naughty boy like you.
Anna
My god, you write as well. I hope not for a living. Schumlanski is a perfect name for a private eye and for a double agent but I see little future for a writer in this name.
Where do you live my dear Anna? Are you a refugee? I would love to meet a stateless woman.
Hermit
Metaphorically speaking, Arnon.
Latin-America
Arnon,
Sorry, I see on wiki Bolivia can indeed be considered part of Latin-America. I always thought of Central-America alone as being that.
In fact according to wiki there are many definitions of it. I learn something every day. :-)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_AmericaCongratulations on the birthday of your godson.
I've never visited a brothel to this day. I'm planning on doing so in november.
Stateless
Stateless, in my mind of course, in my thinking, but no, I have got a Dutch passport.
Like Friede my mainbusiness is visual. Mine is photography.
ps I didn't read any of your books from page 1 - the end. I am into the 'crime' of reading in rags. That's how i write as well.
Now i think i disappointed you enough for today.
how many (aspiring) writers or commenting on this site?
Anna
No disappointments here. And reading as you wish is one of the rights of the reader, as is not reading.
Eh, do you know Friede?
