Cheese fondue in Bolivia
Oberland
My godson, who happens to be in La Paz with his parents – the coincidence is not completely convincing, his mother is the organizer of the literary festival – is a little bit nervous because he spent the last ten days at the book fair. It’s questionable if a book fair is the perfect place for a toddler to hang out.
This afternoon I ate cheese fondue in the Swiss restaurant Oberland in La Paz.
Tomorrow I’ll be traveling to the mines in Potosi.
It is doubtful if I will be able to post entries the next couple of days.

Where the miners worship the Devil in despair…
i think a bookfair is a great place to hang out for a toddler. My dad used to take me to the bookfair of antwerp every day it lasted. I still do it nowadays. Of course I had to leave the bookfair when the doors closed.
If you are the godson of an undercover waiter who asked a triple agent with a Russian name to turn children into art with him, i think a bookfair is the perfect place to hang out.

I would never call you a bastard anyway.
I feel embarrassed for you saying that. Be ashamed of yourself.
Anna, 'you bastard' is just an expression, a way of saying you're impressed. Like 'awesome' or 'cruel'. In the case of 'you bastard' it's doting (ie: positive), playing on jealousy.

Re: devil. Why do you think I go there?
Why isn't Mayu smiling? Am I seeing gosts?

What exactly do you mean with ghosts?
Salar de Uyuni
If you have the time - visit de salt lakes; they're quite near Potosi - most unworldy landscape I've ever seen. Maybe another place where you can find devils...
And, oh, another story about Montana Rica in Potosi - it is -as the names suggests- a rich mountain; rich in history as well; the Inca decided that is was holy mountains, with gold flowing from its flanks if you lit a fire on top - they never touched the metal. They told this story to the Spanish, probably to convince them that the mountain was indeed special. The Spaniards agreed and dug out most of the gold. From then onwards everybody has been digging into the mountain.
Somewhere - end of the last century - a US engineering company did some massive calculations on the mountain; number of mines, length of halls, mass of the mountain... they calculated the mountain would colapse somewhere in 2001.
Americans can't be right all the time, but how wrong were they?
I always imagined Mayu would have difficulties adapting to his new family.
After all he's confronted with a new culture, a new climate and a new language(?) . And I always had the strong feeling you were more a father to him then a godfather. All of this can make you feel pretty insecure.
Please be careful.
godson
I presume the child with the cap is your godson. If so, I have to say I see some resemblance to you, Arnon.
The features and his glance .
I suggest we all keep on dancing for endorphine the following days.
Noa
Thank you very much noa.
Exuse me for misunderstanding.
PS. My flip-flops went to pieces
@ Joram
I truely love Arnon 's looks.
His features, singled out, one might think: How odd!
Together though, don't you see, what a fit ! The perfect blend .
That"s how I rejoice myself,
with a glance at Arnon and the way he looks.

My godson is wearing the pink overalls. FYI.
