This afternoon I drove from Koblenz to Mains for an interview with the German television. We drove along the Rhine.
"That's the Lorelei," the driver said.
I thought of my parents with whom I had passed the Lorelei by train several times a year.
"You should stay here," the driver said, "and enjoy the Rhine Valley. Why go back to New York when you have the Rhine Valley?"
