Promise
Clean, safe and affordable
The bartender at my favorite restaurant in Dublin is Polish. For those who know contemporary Dublin this doesn’t come as a big surprise. (It’s not true by the way that you are at home where you have a favorite restaurant. There are cities where I have a favorite restaurant, but I don’t feel at home. However I do feel at home in Dublin.)
While serving me the bartender said that she would visit Amsterdam with a friend in the next couple of weeks. She asked me if I knew a clean, safe and affordable hotel in Amsterdam.
I’m afraid that the hotel where I use to stay in Amsterdam exceeds her budget.
Maybe readers of this site have suggestions.
I promised to send her a mail with the name of a clean, safe and affordable hotel.
A gentleman should keep his promises.

What is their budget? Amsterdam is expensive. They should look into
www.booking.com/AmsterdamMost hotels are friendly, clean and safe, to my experience.
Over the years I can recommend: Rho, Eden, Ramada Amsterdam City Center, Savoy, Beethoven, Inntel Center, etcetera..
And I hear that hotel Arena near the Oosterpark is very popular for the more younger tourists. For a good coffee and something extra they can try The Blue Bird in Sint-Antoniebreestraat…
The Scheepvaarmuseum is a must but unfortunately it is closed for renovation.
Hotel Arena, the hotel that Jan Thys mentioned, always looks like a pleasant place to stay.

Does hotel Arena only look nice? Have you ever been into one of the rooms?
Arnon
No, never stayed there.
I camped in the nearby Oosterpark.
On the site
http://www.hotelarena.nl/ it shows that the rooms haven't got the usual cheesy hotel room ornaments. Which is a good sign I think.
Hotel Arena
I have been there for an interview and know some people who stayed there. The rooms are minimalistic and nice.
ps - I've been in hotel Arena's rooms - quite small and clean, no frills but fine. Good breakfast.,dinner, and perfect night club. But see my above link too (keep it a secret ;))
