Fridge
Payback
This is Martina’s fridge.
Last night we washed the dishes.
Sander thought that it was a good idea to do something for our host.

That is indeed a very nice thing to do. Did you break anything?
Nice fridge. I have been several times in Praque for work, have some friends living there too. It is such a beautiful city. Have you been in the centre in the Jazz cafe, almost always live music, really neat stuff. I think Clinton once played some saxafone there too. Food is not haute causine, but the atmosfere makes up for it big time.
Cheers

Are all the hosts where you stay aware you are a writer and that you write about your experiences at their homes?
Today I got my copy of the NRC Friday (Cultureel & Boeken) but I am unable to find any article by your hand. Are you traveling under another name?
Jan Thys
Yesterday, Friday the 11th of April, Arnon's first column was published on the front page of NRC Handelsblad, not in the Cultural Supplement.
Today and the rest of the following week the column can be found in the art section.
@ Vera
I've just finished your novel. I liked it very much. You have a sober, but probing style.
Frigidly
I started with a new novel, dear people, and its roots can be found at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_massacre_of_1961. Thought it might be a good idea to take a deeper look in what is now known as the era of decolonisation. 1960 was a good year, for a lot of those countries. Not for Algeria: they had to wait (read: struggle & fight), drown & die) for another 2 years.
The openinglines come from one of those poor Algerians, shot by the police and thrown for dead into the Seine. After he enters the twilightzone we call death he tells us, all in present tense, how cold it is in the water, in that cold, frigidly river Seine water.
Wonder what filth comes next! Go for it.

@Johannes
Indeed it is on the front page. I simply overlooked it! How habits can influence our perception. Thanks.
@Victor
Are you familiar with the famous book about the French Algerian clash ‘La Question’ – ‘Het Verhoor’ by Henri Alleg? It was for longtime forbidden in France.
@Jan Thys
No, I certainly will look (google) into this book & author. I was stunned learning about a, this most unfortunate event and b, a whole lot more. That secret Sykes-Picot treaty, to name but one (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sykes-Picot_Agreement).
One of the goldmines I stumbled upon is the Yale Law School Avalon project, were one can find some really amazing yet very real & valuable stuff! (

Thanks, Jan, for your remark!
Sheers!
@Mieke
Thank you so much! The 27th of april I have a reading and Q&A in Herzele.
If it's not too far away from Kortrijk...x
@Viktor
Thanks for the tip!
