Annie

Is it a good business?

For those of you who haven’t read the last entries: I’m not in Iraq anymore, I’m in a country in the Middle East that cannot be named because of political sensitivities.
After moving from the military base to this hotel I indulged myself in a Japanese lunch, went swimming and made an appointment for a massage.
Although it was clearly stated that massage for men would be given by men, my masseuse turned out to be a Chinese lady. Her westernized name was Annie.
While working on me she said: “In two years I’ll be free, then I’ll go back to China.” “Why did you come here?” I asked.
“You know,” she said, “I was young and naïve.” "And why don’t you stay here?” I wanted to know.
“There is no future here,” she said. “People don’t know how to treat a lady here. Only five percent of the Arabs are good. All they know is lying and playing.” “Are there many Chinese here?” I asked.
“I’m the only Chinese working for this company,” she said. “All the other ones are from India or the Philippines.” Her last question was: “In your country, are there many Chinese restaurants? Is it a good business?”

Give her a hug and wish her well on behalf of one of your commenter’s. (I am sure she already likes you).
Noord-Germaanse Runen
Something about a totally different matter (sorry Arnon).

Who knows something about the North Germanic Runen, and their linguistic influence on the Common-, and the Westgermanic languages?
I know that the Common and Westgermanic language had a big influence on the Ingvaeones language (phonological-lexical and morphological), but I can't find examples on how the Runen influenced the Westgermanic languages.
@Monica
All I know is, this ancient scripture was used by priests and nowadays mostly used for magical purposes only (not to mention the SS), but I am sure you already know that; there is a lot to be found on the internet and in specialized libraries.
Did you wonder what your country actually is, at that moment, or did you think of the US of A immediately? I take it she took it as you not being an American as well, since people tend to know there are excellent Chinese Restaurants in New York, but none in L.A.

Maybe you can buy her free, Mr. Arnon?

I told her I was born in Amsterdam.
Although she thought that Amsterdam was in Denmark.
I tried to correct her, to no avail.
Are there pictures of you as a woman, or was it just a dream?
Arnon
It's funny.. I' once dreamt about you looking like a woman. But I've often have bizarre dreams.
From your entry and the nationalities mentioned, I'd guess you could be in Qatar or Dubai.
