Yellow sheets
I cannot say that I returned from Iraq without any physical impediments. The skin on my hands is still extremely dry and a wound on my toe got inflamed. All minor details of course compared to what could have happened also.
While walking this afternoon to my favorite restaurant for lunch I saw a man in his early forties, impeccably dressed, standing on the street not far from Stephen’s Green. He was talking in Italian to a video camera on a tripod. In his hand he hold some yellow sheets.
I felt like encouraging him. It must not be easy: talking to a camera without other people around to support you.

And you're not in NY. People must think he was quite lonely.. Or mad. I hope Irena well be pedicuring you again soon. Or doesn't she deal with ill feet?

Laura says that this picture is gross.
We did notice, however, a striking resemblance between your toes and Laura's. Her second and third toe seem to be "ahead of the others", as if they originate from a common branch.

I understand Laura’s objections but shouldn’t love be able to overcome an inflamed toe?
Arnon
Laura's response was based on a history of seeing inflamed toes. When she was little, she was forced to be a secretary in her dad's office.

What are you going to do when one of your body parts will be inflamed?
My mother says you've got Paronychia and you should see a doctor before your foot falls off.
Dens
Is your mother a doctor?
No, not at all.

If I were you I'd tip Irina more than twenty bucks.

Put a bandaid with some calendula on your inflamed toe. After a day a new bandaid with calendula. Repeat it till it goes away.
I work in a hospital, I've seen this.

If one of my toes gets inflamed, I will see Laura's dad. He in fact had a look at my big toe this morning, and suggested that I use Vicks VapoRub to treat a modest toenail fungus infection.

Where do I get calendula?
And what is calendula?
They use calendula in a hospital? Must be one of those hippiehospitals from the old days when farmaceutical companies didn't rule the planet, oh wait, that was before the 60's, wasn't it.

It's a herb.
You can buy the cream in Reform houses, also in regular drugstores. But I don't know about the US.
