Identity

Waiting for the enemy

Elections in the Netherlands. John Vinocur writes in the International Herald Tribune : “Because most of the major political parties realized the legitimate grip on voters of Fortuyn's success in talking about how the Dutch would not accept a loss of their identity and ethos - an issue with a sequel in the Dutch rejection last year of a European Union constitution - the parties turned their approach to insisting on demands for Muslims' compatibility and tighter immigration controls.” A loss of their identity? Ethos?

'Stemwijzer ' said i had to vote for 'De Partij voor de dieren'...OK then. And i do dislike Mark Rutte, the traitor of the Maagdenhuis students, my red lantern in the Stemwijzer. So far so good. Rule Batavia, Batavia rules the waves !
By the way, Mr. Grunberg, yesterday in Humo, you made Geerolf Annemans a proud man, calling him a potent all around f*cker. Rumours said he even considers making Fistf*cking an essential part of Flemish Heritage. And that bloke also likes to cum on our faces. Good to know you are in New-York, take care.
I often have problems posting comments here. Is this because I'm on Safari (PB G4)?

I read that the Netherlands have two parties defending the rights of pedophiles? Doesn't anyone find that revolting? Are the protective bags around the foeti the only things that're protecting our children?
@Dens, no, there is only one party defending the 'rights 'of pedo's, see weblog 25/09/2006 - Leiden., here, but they never passed the quotum for the ellections. The Dutch are somewhere more tollerant, they are not a bunch of rogues and they do not eat babies nor kill the elderly as some Foxy Newsmen declare. Thanks for your attention.
Oh right, I read it here, I even commented on it. Quite a good comment, if you ask me ;).
But I thought there was an other party as well. Can't recollect it, so don't mind it. The Netherlands are a rather disfunctional country, I guess?
aliens
Dennis, There is only one party that focuses exclusively on pedophiles and their rights. This party was not able to take part in the elections, due to a lack of signatures. I believe 220 signatures are needed. Maybe a little less, maybe a little more. We are all waiting for a party protecting the rights of aliens from outer space. As soon as this party comes into existence, I will become a politician.
Great Democracy Show
Arnon, whenever that happens, I will single-handedly make myself President of the Democratic Party for Enlightened Dictatorship.

Democracy is enormously overrated. During the past elections in Holland there was almost a majority of 'floating' voters. These people made their choice with the ballot in their hands. They had no clue who to vote for.
This means that the policy of the next government is based on which names attracted the attention of voters.

Are politicians that equal? Or did voters become stupid in the last 20 years? People still seem to care, since almost 80% of them showed up at the polling stations. Why even bother if you have no clue what to vote for?

Apparently, democracy has become a means for the people to fool themselves into thinking that they matter and contribute to a better society. The Democratic Party for Enlightened Dictatorship will use that principle.

On TV everything remains the same. Entertainers will talk about politics and principles, visit the elderly with a camera crew, debate about money, shake hands with people on the street, drive racing cars, row canoes...
While everybody is occupied with the Great Democracy Show, real capable people will govern the country and make choices based on information instead of gut feeling, care about the future instead of future elections, care about people instead of exit polls.
@ On a sleepless night, I once got the more or less same idea. The Guided Democracy, wherein political parties merely existed as institutes of verification, controle and corporation, under the reign of Enlightened Masters. A nice workout for a Power Point Presentation. Good thinking, Sander, you are indeed up to the task.
almost
Sander, I almost completely agree.
Comandante
I know Arnon, you probably disagree with my choice of President. But you can be my Che anytime.
