Students
Midnight
Yesterday was my final class with my “own” students in Leiden. (“Own” as opposed to the students in the Plato class, which I taught together with Eric Schliesser.)
Mr. Vogelaar, a Dutch writer, talked to the students about his book on literature and concentration camps, both in Nazi Germany and the Soviet-Union.
Mr. Vogelaar turned out to be an easy talker. He could have gone on till midnight but he captivated his audience. One student fell asleep. Later she explained that she had not slept for more than twenty four hours.
I will definitely miss some of the students.

ARNON,
Was Robert Antelme the subject of mr. Vogelaar's class?
How does he fit in with your class, or am I taking a wrong turn altogethet here?
I'm really interested in the subject (literature and concentration camps)
goodbye grungberg
And we will miss you! Or at least I will.
I'll never forget this one sentence you spoke: "I will not try to give meaning to the fact that there is a sheep lying here before me." I had it tattood.
Emma
Was there a sheep lying before Mr Grunberg?
Ybe
Mr. Vogelaar mentioned Antelme a few times. In Mr Vogelaar's book you will find much more on Antelme.

Since Emma doesn't seem to answer I will: one student had a pen case in the shape of a lamb.

Arnon,
thank you. I was quite mesmerized by the picture on the cover of L'espèce humaine, but my interest goes to mr. Vogelaar.
