The chill
The best thing to do
Probably the best thing to do this Christmas is to read Dwight Garner’s review on Jack Spicer’s poetry. (I wasn’t aware of Jack Spicer until yesterday when I stumbled upon Mr. Garner's article in the Times.)
Mr. Spicer wrote: “I am going north looking for the source of the chill in my bones.”
That’s my plan for today.

A very good plan.
Chill in the bones? Sounds like an upcoming depression.
(I feel a bit sick.)
No chill in my bones today, more a glow like a candlelight; soft and cosy.

On days like this , do you feel like an outsider?
Dear Arnon,
can't believe it: sure you've got nothing better to do? In that case: come and sit by my fireside. I'll play you some beautiful music and tell you some nice stories. No one should be gloomy on a Xmas day. Chill in the bones... Gee, the expression itself is enough to turn me into an icicle (spelled correctly, I hope).
Arnon,
is your experience that loneliness is necessary to be a good writer?
Arnon, a very nice Christmaspresent, the link to that review. Thank you.

Now you can understand why I keep smoking.

No, but it might be a benefit.
Mieke
I never feel an outsider when I think of you.
Arnon
Smoothie.
