Saturday afternoon, a bookstore in Groningen. After a presentation about “the quantified writer and reader experiment” (see: here) a woman in her forties approached me.
“I would like to buy your book but I don’t have money, can I barter services for your novella?”
“I don’t sell my books,” I said. “Please, talk to a salesperson.”
Within five minutes the lady was back. “You will buy this book for me,” she said, “and then later I will provide you with some personal services.”
Of course I agreed to do this; creativity should be rewarded.
